Alternative Therapy Holistic/Alternative Therapy is a generic term for any treatment that is used to treat the individual as a whole on all levels - mind, body and spirit. Most complementary or alternative therapies are regarded as holistic.As far as we can tell through written proof, the use of crystals as a healing modality was used as far back as the Ancient Egyptians, but it is believed that the Chinese have been using them even longer. To understand how crystal’s work we need to first understand disease. Modern medicine recognises disease as a collection of symptom’s and then places a label on them. This is because these diseases have identifiable causes, such as infections or injuries. Holistic therapy recognises dis-ease as a state of mind. The mind is a powerful organ and it can affect the condition of the physical, emotion and spiritual wellbeing of a person. Life energy, or Chi force, flows through distinct pathways in the body and these are called meridians. The Chinese use these pathways when they do acupuncture. Crystal therapist’s use the same pathways to find the dis-ease within the body and then use crystals to clear it During the therapy the patient is required to participate and work with the therapist, so the best course of treatment can be established. Crystals are placed on a fully clothed patient and then checked at regular intervals. It is a profound and relaxing experience that helps to heal the mind, body and spirit. What is Crystal Therapy? The human body is crystalline in nature. It is almost entirely made of water which is a form of liquid crystal. Our blood is also a liquid crystal and the trace minerals in the body are crystalline in structure. Other systems in the body are formed of crystalline substances e.g. cell salts, fatty tissue, lymph and the pineal gland. Crystals work well on the body because they can absorb and transmit a multitude of different energies which affects our bodies at an energetic level. This energy transference takes place partly due to a resonance effect between the crystal and the crystalline parts of the body. Crystals also raise our energy levels by amplifying the frequencies of our crystalline structures. During a Crystal therapy, various crystals are placed on or around a fully clothed person to induce deep relaxation, release stress and pain, and promote energy balance within the physical and subtle bodies. Crystals absorb, focus, direct and diffuse our energy fields to enable a diseased or out of balance body to find it's natural energetic rhythm once again. The treatment takes around an hour and crystals may be used singularly or in patterns. They are placed on sites of pain, acupuncture points, meridians, or on subtle energy vortexes called chakras. I know that a lot of people think how can these ‘stones’ work. Here is how. Crystals have the ability to hold and emit energy vibrations. When a crystal is put into a watch the battery sends a constant charge through the crystal. The crystal absorbs the charge, and then releases it at such a precise rate it is used to make the watch keep perfect time. Crystals affect the energy field which surround and permeate the physical body.
